60 Arrested at Luxury Villa Wedding Party for Violating COVID-19 Restrictions in Morocco

In Témara, the gendarmerie services accompanied by officials and representatives of the local authorities proceeded to arrest 60 people in a luxury villa transformed into a banquet hall, where a wedding party was taking place. A fine was imposed on them for violating the restrictive measures enacted to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the kingdom.
The gendarmerie services of Tamesna and Sidi Yahya Zaïr carried out a raid on a luxurious property, covering several hectares and housing a large villa converted into a banquet hall, reports Assabah. This raid followed the information received by the Caïd of Sidi Yahya Zaïr, which reported the recent opening of a banquet hall in the region.
Upon arrival, the gendarmes surprised at least 120 people participating in a wedding party. It was a rout. They still managed to arrest 60 participants. They paid a fine of 300 DH and were released late at night. As for the manager of the premises, he was presented before the public prosecutor under arrest. He will be questioned as part of an offense of violating the state of health emergency. He should also be prosecuted for the illegal opening of a party venue.
