US and Morocco Strengthen Counterterrorism Partnership in North Africa

The United States has congratulated Morocco for its many efforts in the fight against terrorism. To stem the influence of this scourge towards North and West Africa, the two nations have committed to deploying more efforts through the establishment of a common security platform.
During the work of the strategic dialogue between Morocco and the United States, Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State, exchanged in Washington on the influence of Iran and its satellites in North and West Africa, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two officials also discussed the means to be deployed to stem this scourge which is growing in North and South Africa.
In addition, the two nations have committed to strengthening their efforts to stem this phenomenon in Africa, and to definitively defeat the terrorist group, Daesh, through the strengthening of the security services’ capacities in the region and through the creation of a common platform for cooperation in security matters.
