During his working visit, Mike Pompeo was able to meet with certain Moroccan authorities, specifically the Head of Government Saadeddine El Othmani, Abdellatif Hammouchi who holds the position of Director General of National Security and Director General of Moroccan Territorial Surveillance, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita.
With the latter, Mike Pompeo discussed the bilateral relations between Morocco and the United States. The two men reiterated the common vision of the two countries on the Sahel region. They also exchanged on the means to enable Libya "to lay the foundations for lasting peace and security". The Iran file was the last subject addressed by the two diplomats. They reflected on the efforts to be deployed to counter the attempts of Iranian expansionist ambitions in the region, particularly in North and West Africa.
