Morocco Rejects Israel’s Overtures, Reaffirms Stance Against Normalization

Habib El Malki, President of the House of Representatives, reaffirmed that Morocco has no intention of normalizing its relations with Israel.
Israel’s growing determination to warm up its relations with Morocco continues to meet with a categorical refusal from the authorities of the kingdom. Confiding to the Israeli newspaper Maariv in Paris, on the sidelines of the Moroccan-French parliamentary forum, Habib El Malki, President of the House of Representatives, stated that the kingdom has no intention of improving its relations with Israel, reports Morocco World News.
In the same vein as him, Abdessamad Kayouh, first vice-president of the House of Councilors, declared that Morocco’s position on Israel remains unchanged.
Israel’s attempts to normalize its relations with Morocco are multiplying. The latest one concerns the talks it had with the US Secretary of State in Portugal, on the eve of his visit to Morocco in early December. Mike Pompeo was to exchange with King Mohammed VI on the subject. But the meeting between these two authorities no longer took place due to "incompatibility of schedule". A failure for the Israeli Prime Minister who was betting on the United States to "force Morocco’s hand". While Mike Pompeo was already in Rabat, Benjamin Netanyahu wanted to join him; but King Mohammed VI rejected his request.
All of which indicates that the normalization of relations between these two countries is far from becoming a reality.
