Amusement park, ski resort... Marrakech’s new ambitions

The city of Marrakech wants to equip itself with new tourist infrastructures and rehabilitate others in order to attract more visitors.
The authorities of Marrakech plan to build a new convention center to make the ochre city the leading business tourism destination on the continent and in the MENA region, reports the daily Le Matin. "With an investment of 937 million dirhams, this future Congress Palace and Exhibition Park will be built in compliance with international standards in the matter and can accommodate up to 20,000 seats," specifies the same source.
The realization of a themed amusement park is also expected. With an investment of 3 billion dirhams, this project aims to highlight the history of Morocco and the African continent through shows and various events, we are told. "A third project, highly anticipated in the region, is to modernize the Oukaimeden ski resort with a financing of 400 million dirhams," adds the daily, explaining that this site will be transformed into a sustainable ski and mountain destination.
In January 2024, the ochre city recorded 700,000 tourist nights, a record increase of 12% compared to the same period last year. As for arrivals, they increased by 10% during the same month.
