Here is the amount of Zakat in France, according to the CFCM

The amount of Zakat El Fitr for the year 1447 H has been set at 9 euros per person by the French Council of the Muslim Faith. This mandatory alms is intended exclusively for the most destitute people.

This amount has been calculated to reconcile the means of the donors and the needs of the beneficiaries. Although the CFCM recommends 9 euros, it acknowledges "legitimate divergences" on the evaluation of this alms, the amount of which can generally vary between 7 and 12 euros according to the reference religious authorities.

The payment of Zakat El Fitr can be made from the first day of Ramadan. While it is recommended to benefit the needy in one’s place of residence, sending it to other geographical areas is authorized to meet specific needs elsewhere in the world.

The organization insists on the destination of these funds. "This alms is exclusively intended for the poor and cannot in any case be used to finance a mosque," the press release reminds. To ensure transparency, mosques must maintain separate cash registers from their usual operations.

Regarding the compensatory alms (Fidya) for those suffering from a permanent inability to fast, the amount per day missed is variable. According to the legal opinion followed, it can amount to the equivalent of Zakat, to half of it (3.5 to 6 euros) or to a quarter of it (2 to 3 euros).

The distribution can be entrusted to specialized charitable associations. The CFCM recommends that each believer follow the opinion that best corresponds to their personal situation while ensuring compliance with the fundamental religious rules.
