Amber Heard Defends Mosque Visit Attire After Social Media Backlash
American actress Amber Heard is facing strong criticism on Instagram following the publication of a photo deemed inappropriate. The young woman, who is on vacation in Turkey, has chosen to respond to her detractors on Twitter.
The photo, the subject of all the criticism, was taken in a mosque in Turkey. Internet users have judged her outfit to be out of the ordinary for a visit to a place of worship. "A hijab not covering enough, worn as a fashion accessory, a top worn without a bra," wrote one internet user.
On Monday, the actress responded in a tweet linking to a blog article discussing these criticisms: "Apparently the person paid to write this wasn’t paid enough. I’ll make it simple: Mosques are real places. Just like museums and churches. As are scarves (sometimes required for visit). Mystery solved."
