Morocco Investigates Viral Photo of Overcrowded Classroom Amid COVID-19 Concerns

The publication of a photo of an overcrowded classroom without taking into account the distancing measures on the first day of the school year in Morocco has set the web on fire. The Minister of National Education, Saaïd Amzazi who reacted to this publication decided to open an investigation to identify the person who photographed the students.
"A person has disseminated on social networks an image showing an overcrowded classroom without taking into account the distancing measures imposed by the health protocol applied in all schools. The regional academies are currently trying to verify the authenticity of the image in question and to know where it was taken," the minister wrote on his Facebook page. Mr. Amzazi assures that his department will take the necessary measures against the person or persons who photographed these students in this situation endangering their lives.
The minister’s status has earned him strong criticism from Internet users, explains Telquel. For the ministry, this photo is just a "staging" to start the already agitated school year, says an internal source. A new photo of the same class was posted on several Facebook pages a few minutes after the responsible’s status. In this photo, we see two adults in the company of the children.
