Mosque in Tarbes, France Vandalized with Islamophobic Graffiti Amid Terror Trial

The Omar Ibn Al-Khattab mosque in Tarbes (Hautes-Pyrénées) was the target of vandalism during the night of September 1 to 2, with tags painted in spray paint on the walls of the mosque representing the Prophet declaring "I am a coward".
"These acts have no place in our Republic," lamented Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin on Twitter.
"On this day of the opening of the trial of the attacks against Charlie Hebdo and the Hyper Cacher, I am outraged by these odious acts of desecration," said Gérard Trémège, the (LR) mayor of Tarbes, equally disappointed.
Christophe Cavaillès, the first federal secretary of the Socialist Party of the Hautes-Pyrénées and opposition municipal councilor in Tarbes, condemned "the dangerous amalgams of these acts." "The investigators are at work under the authority of the Prosecutor to identify the perpetrators as soon as possible," the prefect of the department said, who went to the mosque in the morning in a show of support for the Muslim leaders.
