US Ambassador Meets Morocco’s Security Chief to Bolster Counter-Terrorism Efforts

The Director General of National Security, Abdellatif Hammouchi, received the US Ambassador to Morocco. Bilateral security cooperation was on the agenda of their discussions on Thursday in Rabat.
During this meeting, the two parties discussed the various security issues of common interest, especially the mechanisms of cooperation and coordination in the fight against the risks of terrorist danger, violent extremism, organized crime and their growing links in the North Africa and Sahel region.
The means to enhance this cooperation, which has become a model to follow in the field of counter-terrorism, were also discussed. The two parties also reviewed the mechanisms for the development and strengthening of cooperation between the services of the DGSN and the DGST and the American security agencies in the field of combating the dangers related to transnational organized crime, in addition to expertise and experiences, specifies a statement from the DGST.
At the end of the meeting, which was attended by senior officials from the central services of the DGST and representatives of the US Embassy in Rabat, the two parties appreciated the assessment of the bilateral strategic cooperation in the security field. While expressing the willingness of the two countries to develop the levels of this cooperation in contributing to world peace and stability. This meeting took place at the headquarters of the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance in Rabat, specifies La Map.
