US-Morocco Counterterrorism Partnership Strengthens with New Defense Roadmap

Morocco and the United States maintain good cooperation in the fight against terrorism, said US Ambassador David Fischer.
This counterterrorism cooperation between the two countries is "robust and long-standing," the American diplomat said in an interview with MAP. He also mentioned the roadmap for defense cooperation signed in October last year between the two countries. According to Mr. Fisher, this agreement aims to "guide" bilateral cooperation in priority areas, including strengthening the modernization efforts undertaken by Morocco. It also aims to "face, together and more effectively, regional threats".
The US ambassador also recalled the many participations of the kingdom in military commitments with the United States. He cited African Lion - an "annual largest military exercise" in Africa hosted by Morocco. David Fisher also assured that the kingdom remains a "major" partner in the US international military education and training program.
According to the diplomat, Morocco uses a "comprehensive" strategy put in place to fight terrorism, which takes into account vigilant security measures, regional and international cooperation and policies to combat radicalization.
