Alsa Orders 500 Mercedes-Benz Buses for Casablanca Public Transport Amid Controversy

The delegatee Alsa has placed an order for 500 urban buses with Daimler for the next fifteen years, in order to ensure the transport of the inhabitants of Casablanca. But behind this order, there are unspoken things.
"This major order includes 420 Mercedes-Benz Conecto solo buses and 80 Mercedes-Benz Conecto G articulated buses," details Daimler. In this batch, 150 buses are ordered for the account of the Al Baida Intercommunal Cooperation Establishment (ECI), the German manufacturer specifies.
This order is already raising many questions, due to the cancellation of the transaction of 350 Casablanca buses. This cancellation is explained by the risks related to the legal proceedings opposing the former delegatee of M’dina Bus to the city council of Casablanca as the representative of the delegating authority. Also, the city officials preferred to give Alsa the opportunity to place this order so as not to face a judgment that the commercial court would render in favor of M’dina Bus and its director Khalid Chrouate, according to some indiscretions.
Speaking on the subject, an opposition councilor within the city council confided to H24INFO that the Spaniards would have imposed this outcome on the city officials, and this, before the signing of the delegated management contract for transport.
