Alleged Scammer Kidnapped by Victims in Tangier, Police Arrest Four

The judicial police of Tangier arrested four people accused of kidnapping and sequestration. They claim to have taken revenge, they say, after being victims of a scam carried out by the person they kidnapped.
According to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the kidnapped man claimed to be a civil servant and had promised to help the four individuals win a public contract in exchange for money.
Following the non-award of the promised contract, the four individuals, feeling deceived, decided to kidnap and sequester the alleged civil servant at his home, also seizing a sum of money he held. Subsequent investigations revealed at the presumed fraudster’s home objects suggesting an usurpation of function: insignia resembling those of the security forces, handcuffs and various electronic equipment.
The five people, including the alleged fraudster, were placed in custody pending a more in-depth investigation. The investigations continue under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, the DGSN press release indicates.
