Algerian Singer Cheb Nasro Urges Morocco-Algeria Border Reopening at Raï Festival

While participating in the International Raï Festival held in the city of Oujda, Morocco, Cheb Nasro, the Algerian raï singer, called on the Algerian and Moroccan authorities on Saturday, July 20, to open the borders.
After more than 20 years of absence from the music scene, the Algerian singer Cheb Nasro set foot on Moroccan soil. At the International Raï Festival in which he participated, he took the opportunity to make a heartfelt appeal to the Moroccan and Algerian authorities, reports observalgerie.com.
Indeed, Cheb Nasro pleaded for the opening of the borders between these two neighboring countries, all the more so since there are social, linguistic and religious ties between the Algerian and Moroccan peoples. For the singer, the Maghreb countries can be inspired by the good neighborly relations between the countries of the European Union. The one who is called Nasereddine Souidi, in civil status, is optimistic about the opening of the Algerian-Moroccan border, for the happiness of the two peoples.
Since 1994, the border between Algeria and Morocco has remained closed. At the origin of this decision, an accusation that provoked the anger of the Algerian authorities. Indeed, Morocco had accused the Algerian intelligence services of being involved in an attack targeting a hotel in Marrakech.
