An Algerian journalist expelled from Morocco, what really happened

The Moroccan authorities proceeded, on Monday, to the expulsion of Kamel Mahoui, Algerian journalist of the Ennahar channel. Came to cover the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, he was checked without the official accreditation required by CAF, while he had already distinguished himself by virulent criticism on the organization of the tournament.

The decision was made following a routine check carried out in one of the facilities related to the competition. The checks established that the reporter did not comply with the strict regulatory procedures set by the Confederation of African Football.

To access the stadiums and media zones, the continental body imposes a prior validation of the files via its electronic platform, a rule that does not provide for any derogation.

This administrative measure comes in a particular context, the journalist having multiplied the very critical contents towards the Moroccan reception and organization before his expulsion. An attitude that has provoked contrasting reactions even in Algeria.
