Algeria Reopens Border to Return Body of Moroccan Jet Ski Victim After 4 Months

The body of Abdelali Mchiouer, victim of gunfire from Algerian border guards, was repatriated this Thursday to Morocco nearly four months after a tragic incident near Saïdia.
The operation took place via the Zouj Bghal border post. On arrival, a solemn reception was organized by Mchiouer’s relatives, accompanied by members of the Royal Gendarmerie and the Auxiliary Forces, reports Hespress.
The incident dates back to late August, when four young people, lost during a jet ski excursion from Saïdia, inadvertently ventured into Algerian territorial waters. This tragic mistake not only cost the lives of two of them, but also drew the attention of the international press, which questioned the absurdity of the Algerian authorities in wanting to politicize this affair at all costs.
