Algeria Outranks Morocco in 2024 Global Military Power Index

Algeria is better placed in the 2024 top of the world’s military powers than Morocco. A ranking criticized by many Moroccan Internet users.

With a score of 1.0081, Morocco maintains its 61st place out of 145 countries in the ranking of global military powers, far behind Algeria (26th world rank with a score of 0.3589, and 2nd in Africa) and Egypt (13th world rank and 1st in Africa), compiled by the American website Global Fire Power (GFP). However, there is a slight improvement in its position. The kingdom had obtained a score of 1.0524 in the last report published last July.

The top 3 remains unchanged. With a score of 0.0699, the United States ranks first in the global ranking. They are followed by Russia with a score of 0.0702 and China (0.0706). India is in fourth place. The United Kingdom and South Korea follow. France and Italy complete the world’s top 10.

According to some Moroccan Internet users, this ranking does not reflect reality. They believe that the military capabilities of Morocco, particularly the latest acquisitions of the Moroccan army and especially their advanced technological level, have not really been taken into account by Global Fire Power (GFP).

The Global Fire Power ranking takes into account nearly 50 parameters, including the number of active military personnel, in the naval force, the availability of fuel for military operations, the number of fighter jets, the budget allocated to defense and logistical flexibility. The country that obtains the 0.0000 note is considered the country with a powerful military strike force, called PwrIndx.
