Algeria Accuses Morocco of Aiding Israeli Military in Gaza Conflict

While the Moroccan people and the Moroccan authorities, in particular King Mohammed VI, continue to defend the Palestinian cause since the outbreak of the war between Hamas and Israel, Morocco is the target of a defamation campaign from Algeria.
Morocco is at the center of a vast defamation campaign. "Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist authorities have been asking Moroccans to participate in the massacres targeting the Palestinian people," reports Radio Algérie on May 23, citing a university professor. He claims that Moroccan soldiers participated in the Israeli massacres on Palestinian territory. These soldiers would number more than 4,000. In addition to these accusations, the Algerian state media claims that a Moroccan unit was already stationed in Palestine, even before Operation Deluge of Al-Aqsa. "Secret agents specialized in spying on Palestinians in Gaza, denounced the elements of the resistance and carried out sabotage operations," adds the author of the report.
However, these allegations contrast with Morocco’s official position and the continued support of its people for Palestine and the Palestinian cause, notes Morocco World News, recalling that the kingdom has demanded an immediate ceasefire, but has also condemned the murder of innocent civilians by Israel since the outbreak of the war between the Hebrew state and Hamas. In addition, the Moroccan people continue to demonstrate for Palestine in the streets throughout the Moroccan territory. At the 33rd Summit of the League of Arab States, King Mohammed VI reaffirmed Morocco’s support for the Palestinian cause. He indicated that the situation in the region following the "flagrant Israeli aggression" in Gaza "only strengthens our determination to ensure that the Palestinian issue remains at the heart of efforts to establish a just and lasting peace in the Middle East."
During the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum in Beijing, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita condemned the failure of the international community to end the Israeli aggression targeting civilians in Gaza. He also denounced the inability of the international community to remedy Israel’s transgressions, which, according to him, has an "enormous cost". Furthermore, global ACLED data place Morocco among the five countries with the highest level of protest against the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza.
