Nador will be connected weekly to Rotterdam, Antwerp and Hamburg

The port of Nador is joining WEC Lines’ new maritime network. The Dutch company has announced the strengthening of its ISS service, renamed ISS-PT, which will connect southern Spain, Morocco, Portugal and several major ports in northwestern Europe every week.

The new organization will take effect on September 10, 2026. It will be operated by two dedicated vessels, each capable of carrying 868 TEU containers. The two ships will complete a fourteen-day rotation, making it possible to offer a weekly departure.

From Nador, the vessel will reach Málaga in fourteen hours, Gibraltar in one day, Huelva in two days and Setúbal in three days, according to the schedule published by WEC Lines. It will also call at Sines, Cadiz, Cartagena and Valencia.

Setúbal will serve as a hub for Moroccan goods. After being transshipped in Portugal, the containers will be able to continue their journey to Thamesport, Liverpool, Dublin, Montoir-de-Bretagne, Antwerp, Moerdijk, Rotterdam and Hamburg.

The connection with Dutch, Belgian, British, French, Irish and German ports will therefore not be direct. However, it will be marketed as an integrated service, with WEC Lines handling the various stages of transport within its own network.

The company announces a transit time of seven days between Setúbal and Rotterdam and eight days to Antwerp, including the average waiting time at the transshipment port. Adding the journey from Nador, the goods could therefore reach these two destinations in around ten days, subject to schedule changes.

Refrigerated containers for Moroccan exporters

The service is aimed particularly at agricultural and agri-food products. WEC Lines will provide 40- and 45-foot refrigerated containers for frozen or perishable goods, as well as high-capacity containers suited to European pallets.

In its announcement about the ISS-PT service, the company presents maritime transport as a more reliable and sustainable alternative to long road journeys. The system is intended in particular to limit inland cargo transfers and dependence on road crossings between Spain and the rest of Europe.

WEC Lines’ service nevertheless gives Nador regular access to Northern Europe’s main port platforms even before Nador West Med reaches full capacity. It also strengthens the maritime outlets of a region where road and port investments are multiplying.
