Algeria Accuses Moroccan Consul of Being Intelligence Officer, Escalating Diplomatic Tensions

The file relating to the departure of the Moroccan consul in Oran has new developments. The Kingdom is the subject of serious accusations from the spokesman for the Algerian presidency.
After several investigations on this file, Algeria has come to the conclusion that the Moroccan consul in Oran, who left Algeria on June 4, was anything but a diplomat. According to the ministerial advisor for Communication and spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, Belaïd Mohand Oussaïd, the Moroccan consul in Oran was simply an officer of the Moroccan intelligence service.
During the press conference he led on Tuesday, June 9, the spokesman stated that the departure of the consul from Algeria was a decision by the Algerian authorities. "Yes, indeed, we have officially requested that this diplomat leave the national territory, because he has violated the rules of decency and the customs and rules governing diplomacy," Belaïd Mohand Oussaïd recalled.
According to him, the behavior of the one who had described Algeria as an "enemy" in front of his compatriots was "not surprising". In making this decision, "Algeria does not want to enter into media campaigns" but rather wishes to raise the level and maintain relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.
