Alarming Video Exposes Drug Use Among Moroccan Students Near Schools

A video widely circulated on Friday, October 31, 2019, showing several students using drugs, has shocked internet users. This scene, which is becoming more and more common in the perimeters of certain Moroccan schools, is a concern for the authorities.
The incident took place in an establishment in Béni Mellal. This video showed young girls and boys inhaling glue. This practice has become commonplace around certain secondary schools in Morocco.
Questioned, the President of the Association "No to Psychotropics" ("La Lil Qarqoubi"), Abdessamad Tahfi, in a statement to Alyaoum24, called for strengthening security around schools.
According to him, this situation has become critical and exposes students to many risks.
While acknowledging that school perimeters have become a place of delinquency for these young people, Abdessamad Tahfi appealed to the supervising minister, the police services and the actors in the school world to fight against this phenomenon.
As for the police services, they indicated in a press release that the investigation opened on this subject is ongoing, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
However, they recall having heard a 12-year-old minor in the presence of her guardian and a witness in order to elucidate the circumstances of this case and identify the perpetrators.
According to the latest news, the person implicated, finally identified, would be actively sought by the police.
