Morocco Boosts Police Presence Near Schools to Combat Drug Trafficking and Delinquency

In order to more effectively combat drug trafficking and delinquency in the school environment, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has ordered a permanent deployment of police forces in the vicinity of schools in the Kingdom.
The resurgence of delinquency in the school environment in Morocco is worrying. This is what justifies this decision taken by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) which intends to thus ensure greater security in the perimeter of schools, indicates Le360, citing Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
According to the daily, drug trafficking as well as indecent acts and offenses have a right of way in many establishments. One could thus understand this important decision of the DGSN which has already sent a circular to its external services, alerting "all its branches in all the provinces and prefectures of the Kingdom, to raise the level of security around schools".
To this end, details the same source, the police brigades will be permanent as well as the reinforcement of patrols, in particular, during the hours of entry and exit of students and teaching staff. By thus fighting against the various forms of delinquency in the vicinity of schools, the police will take the opportunity to track down individuals who are the subject of arrest warrants.
It should be noted that this muscular reaction from the DGSN follows a video circulated on social networks, showing teenagers inhaling glue near a school in Béni Mellal. This incident, which led to the arrest by the police of the supplier of these minors, took a political turn, being the subject of oral questions in Parliament, the same media points out.
With its decision to strengthen security measures around schools, the DGSN, as in the past, intends to curb the phenomena of drug trafficking, harassment and theft, under the threat of a bladed weapon.
