Airbus Achieves Record Sales, Highlights Moroccan Manufacturing Contributions

The European aircraft manufacturer, Airbus, achieved good performance last year. Air Arabia Maroc made a great contribution.
"Air Arabia Maroc operates 9 A320s from Moroccan territory. We recorded a sales record, with a total of 1,131 new orders in 2019. 768 net orders were recorded, compared to 747 in 2018, a historic cumulative total of more than 20,000 net orders," said Mikail Houari, President of Airbus Africa and Middle East, in an interview with L’Économiste.
Morocco produces parts for all Airbus programs. In detail, the Stelia Aerospace Maroc site, located in Nouaceur, produces in particular the landing gear doors and the cockpit lining of the Airbus A320, the interior window frame panels and the luggage compartments of the ATRs, as well as business class passenger seat shells. This site also carries out, in a second factory, the assembly of metal sub-assemblies in Morocco, such as the forward and central fuselage panels of the Airbus A320 family, or the manufacture of basic metal parts.
"So we can say that there is ’made in Morocco’ in every Airbus plane," admits Mikail Houari. Through our 100% Airbus subsidiary, Stelia Aerospace, a major global player in the design and production of equipment and fuselages, we have developed strong expertise in the fields of composite parts manufacturing, cabin fittings and avionics equipment maintenance in Morocco."
He will add that to date, there is not a single Airbus aircraft that does not have parts, equipment or components manufactured in Morocco.
