Aggression of the Deputy Mayor in Salé: The Investigation Takes a New Turn
The investigation into the attempted murder of the businessman and deputy mayor of Salé in mid-April is ongoing. Last Thursday, the court of first instance in Rabat ordered a medical examination to determine the psychological state of the defendant.
The court decided to submit the accused to a medical examination in order to clarify the issue of his mental state, raised by his lawyers who claim that he was suffering from serious psychological disorders. The defendant is accused of having attacked with a bladed weapon last April a businessman and deputy mayor of Salé, recalls Al Akhbar.
According to observers, this decision taken by the court at the end of the hearing last Thursday could relaunch the case. On April 15, a 35-year-old man had attacked with a bladed weapon a well-known businessman and deputy mayor of the city, seriously injuring him in the face. The elected member of the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) was urgently transferred to a private clinic where he underwent surgery.
The security forces had managed to quickly apprehend the aggressor, despite the strong resistance he had put up, which had forced the agents to use their service weapon to neutralize him. The suspect was placed in custody, pending the conclusions of the judicial investigation ordered by the competent public prosecutor’s office in order to shed light on this case.
