Morocco: He drags a police officer with his car: the Indrive driver sentenced to 11 months in prison

The justice system has ruled in the case of the VTC driver who dragged a police officer in Salé. The Court of First Instance of Salé sentenced, this Thursday, November 12, the driver of the "Indrive" platform to a sentence of 11 months in prison, accompanied by a fine of 10,000 dirhams.

The case had erupted about three weeks ago, following the release of a video that had provoked a strong reaction from the security services of Salé Al Jadida. The events began with a dispute between the driver, in his thirties, and a foreign tourist he had transported from Rabat to Salé. A police officer then intervened to put an end to the altercation.

The driver refused to comply with the officer’s orders. The widely shared video showed the driver dragging the police officer with his vehicle as the latter tried to stop him, putting his life in danger.

A quick arrest after the release of the video

Given the seriousness of the documented facts, a special brigade of the judicial police immediately launched an investigation. Relying on the video and the information gathered, the investigators were able to identify and arrest the suspect in a very short time in Sala Al Jadida.

He was then taken into custody and brought before the courts for his act, which resulted in the conviction this Thursday.
