Morocco: Prison sentence for the man who hit the child Ghaïta
The Court of Appeal of Settat sentenced the man who hit the 5-year-old girl Ghaïta to ten months in prison and a fine of 500 dirhams, confirming the judgment handed down at first instance.
In addition to these sentences, the court ordered the defendant to pay the sum of 400,000 dirhams to the victim, as compensation for the physical and psychological damages she suffered as a result of the accident. The defendant has a period of ten days to appeal the decision.
According to the medical report presented to the court, the child suffered a serious skull fracture, causing direct pressure on the frontal lobe of the brain, as well as a hematoma between the bone and the outer layer. Physical and psychological damages that have affected the life of the victim and her family.
