Tragic Beach Vacation: Driver Jailed After Horrific Car Accident Leaves Child with 80% Disability

The court of first instance in Berrechid sentenced the man who hit the little Ghita on the beach of Sidi Rahal to ten months in prison and a fine of 500 dirhams. The latter was on vacation in Morocco with her parents living in Italy.
The court sentenced the accused to this sentence for having driven his vehicle on the beach and hit the child. But he was acquitted of the charge concerning the modification of the accident site. The court also ordered the accused to pay compensation of 400,000 dirhams to the victim. The accused has a period of ten days to appeal the judgment.
According to the medical expert report requested by the victim’s family, the victim suffered a skull fracture with pressure on the frontal lobe and a hematoma requiring surgical intervention, after the accident that occurred on June 15, 2025. The child also had multiple injuries, including a deep scalp laceration, facial and hand abrasions, and a tear in the right eyelid requiring precise sutures.
According to this document, Ghita suffers from a total temporary disability of 120 days and a permanent partial disability estimated at 80%. The young victim needs long-term medical and psychological follow-up, as well as physical and cognitive rehabilitation sessions. For its part, the defense had pleaded fatality, arguing that its client had acted in good faith and transported the child to the clinic and that he had no intention of concealing the facts. It also denounced the lack of signage prohibiting vehicle access to the beach.
