Agadir Expands Bus Rapid Transit System with Two New Lines

The work on the Agadir Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project will have to start next year. It is planned to create two new "Busway" lines and establish routes connecting the city to the surrounding suburbs, particularly the cities of Inezgane, Aït Melloul, Drarga and Dcheira.

A new step taken towards the realization of lines L2 and L3. A consortium of companies is conducting studies for the realization of lines L2 and L3 of the public transport network of the city of Agadir, as part of the Agadir Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, we learn.

Line L2 corresponds to the route of line 2 of the TCSP previously defined in the 2015 Urban Mobility Plan (PDU) serving Agadir-Inzegane-Aït Melloul, while line L3 corresponds to the route proposed by the 2021 bus network restructuring study serving the localities of Drarga (new industrial zone, free zone, agropole...), Dcheira and Inzegane, and should intersect the two lines L1 (at the Tikiouine interchange hub) and L2 (at the Inzegane interchange hub).

The launch of studies and works related to the realization of the two new lines (L2 and L3) aims to complete the TCSP network of the agglomeration and to serve the other most densely populated urban municipalities, such as Aït Melloul, Inzegane, Dcheira and Drarga. What are the advantages of these new ones? They should offer a range of services to transport more than one million inhabitants of Agadir, in addition to the city’s visitors, whether Moroccan or foreign tourists. They should also allow the transport of about 40,000 to 60,000 people per day through its 35 stations.
