Rabat's Transport Revolution: 48km High-Speed Bus Network to Transform Urban Mobility

The project to create 4 high-level bus service (BHNS) lines along the Rabat - Salé - Témara axis, for a total length of approximately 48 kilometers, is progressing.

A step has been taken in the realization of the project to create 4 high-level bus service (BHNS) lines along the Rabat - Salé - Témara axis, for a total length of approximately 48 kilometers. The CID consulting firm has been tasked with overseeing this project.

This infrastructure is structured into four operating lines designated BHNS1, BHNS2, BHNS3 and BHNS4. The first, 9 km long, connects the terminus of Tramway Line 1 located in Madinat Al Irfane in Témara, crossing the Hay Riad neighborhoods in Rabat and Guich and Oulad Mtaa in Témara. 10.8 km long, the BHNS 2 line connects Témara to the Yaacoub Al Mansour district in Rabat. As for the BHNS 3 line, 10 kilometers long, it connects the Youssoufia and Yaacoub Al Mansour districts in Rabat. Finally, the BHNS 4, 18.5 km long, connects the Laayayda district to the Technopolis hub.

This integrated urban transport project, which aims to strengthen sustainable mobility in the capital and its suburbs, is in line with a comprehensive strategy for developing public transport in the capital. This is based on a preliminary study of the extension of the tramway network, in order to ensure effective integration between the different modes of public transport and to strengthen the connection between the main cities.

This project is not limited to the launch of new lines. It also includes the creation of several multimodal exchange hubs to facilitate travel and interconnection between modes of transport, as well as the construction of two maintenance centers aimed at ensuring the quality of the service and its long-term sustainability.
