Agadir: the new smart buses are here

With the immediate commissioning of 134 new buses, Agadir is embarking on a complete overhaul of its network under the supervision of Wali Saaïd Amzazi. This deployment marks the end of an obsolete transport system to impose smart mobility, which will eventually be extended to 311 vehicles covering 18 municipalities of Greater Agadir.

This first operational phase is now circulating within the urban perimeter. The fleet is distinguished by the integration of new technologies: on-board internet connection, accessibility devices for people with reduced mobility, and ergonomic comfort. The president of the group of local authorities for mobility specifies that this project aims to replace a failing traditional network with a modern model, capable of meeting the standards of a tourist city preparing to host major international events.

The deployment plan provides for a rapid ramp-up. In the coming weeks, the network will be extended to serve 18 municipalities, including Inzegane Aït Melloul, Taroudant, Chtouka Aït Baha and Agadir Ida Outanane. Ultimately, the overall fleet will reach 311 vehicles, consisting of 247 smart buses, 30 high-level service buses (BHNS) from the "Amalway" program, and 35 standard buses.

The management of this transitional phase has been entrusted to the Alsa company, pending the final award of the delegated management contract. The local authorities are now calling for collective responsibility to preserve these new facilities, intended to put a definitive end to the daily travel difficulties of residents and visitors.
