Marrakech: 207 new "smart" buses arrive to transform transportation

A fleet of 207 new buses is being deployed in Marrakech to improve the service, a project that is part of a new delegated management model led by the group of local authorities.

The arrival of this modern fleet, composed of 18-meter articulated buses and 12-meter standard buses, represents a major step. In the coming days, these vehicles will be transferred to logistics stations to be equipped with advanced digital systems. The objective is to go beyond the simple renewal of equipment and to integrate technology at the heart of the service.

Connected buses for passengers and governance

This digital transformation is the real challenge of the project. The buses will integrate intelligent ticketing systems, operating assistance tools, and real-time information devices for travelers. Concretely, passengers will be able to consult the routes and schedules and benefit from more flexible ticket purchase options.

Beyond the comfort of users, this system is a governance tool. It will allow precise monitoring of data (revenue, expenses, performance indicators) accessible at three levels: the delegating authority (the group), the delegatee (the operator), and the Ministry of the Interior. This transparency aims to strengthen contract control and ensure a more efficient and sustainable service, in line with the national vision of modernizing public transport.
