Agadir Accelerates Infrastructure Projects Ahead of 2030 World Cup Co-Hosting

The authorities of Agadir held a meeting on Monday to take stock of the preparations for the Greater Agadir for the 2030 World Cup that Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
During this meeting chaired by Saaïd Amzazi, Wali of the Souss-Massa region and governor of the prefecture of Agadir Ida-Outanane, and attended by Abou El Houkouk, governor of the prefecture of Inezgane, progress on the implementation levels of ongoing projects in the area was presented.
These projects concern the development and equipment of road infrastructure, in particular the entrance to the city from Drarga, Inezgane and Dcheira, as well as the sections of the expressway and its extension towards the north in the direction of Taghazout and towards the south in the direction of Lqliaa. The Wali took this opportunity to urge all stakeholders to intensify their efforts in order to achieve the set objectives within the deadlines.
The progress of the project to rehabilitate the surroundings of the Grand Stade d’Agadir, including the development of access roads, the rehabilitation of green spaces and public squares, as well as the development at the level of the Al Mohammadi, Al Qods neighborhoods and the slopes of the mountains, was also presented during this meeting.
Other meetings are planned and will make it possible to assess the level of execution of the car and bus parks under construction around the stadium, the connection of the stadium to the city’s road network, as well as the training grounds in the city of Agadir and its surroundings or tourist infrastructures in the Taghazout area with a view to a successful organization of the 2030 World Cup.
