The grand stadium that Morocco will build in Benslimane in preparation for the 2030 World Cup, which it will co-host with Spain and Portugal, now bears the name of King Mohammed VI’s father, Hassan II.
The future stadium in Benslimane is now called the Grand Stadium Hassan II. 2M dedicated a report to it that aired on Wednesday in the evening news. "The grand stadium that will be built in Benslimane (west), with a capacity of 115,000 seats, will be exceptional in every way. It will be the largest and best football monument in the world and will contribute to the influence of the cultural heritage that abounds in the kingdom," said Fouzi Lekjaâ, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), on the sidelines of an expanded meeting held on Wednesday in the city of Casablanca (west) to assess the preparations for hosting the World Cup, chaired by the Moroccan Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit. In addition to the head of Moroccan football, the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, Mohamed Mhidia, and other stakeholders participated in the meeting.
The agenda included discussions on development and infrastructure projects aimed at preparing Casablanca for the 2030 World Cup, in accordance with FIFA’s requirements. "This meeting is part of a series of meetings aimed at closely monitoring the implementation of the projects, according to a precise agenda," emphasized Fouzi Lekjaâ. Similar meetings have already taken place in Rabat and Fez, as part of the intense preparations for the organization of the 2030 World Cup in partnership with Spain and Portugal.
