Achraf Hakimi Sets Sights on Champions League Glory with PSG and Morocco Success

Despite his already well-filled football career, Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi does not intend to rest on his laurels. He reveals the dream he still wants to accomplish.

"[...] I would like to win the Champions League with Paris by being a starter, by playing more than when I won it with Real Madrid. I had played 2 or 3 matches, it’s already good, but I would like to be a more important player. And also win something with the Moroccan national team. That would be even greater, it’s a real dream today, I need it," said the 24-year-old player in an interview with Amazon Prime in a 7 Questions video. His best memory, he will say, is having participated in the World Cup in Qatar and also having won the Club World Cup with Real Madrid (2017-18 season).

Speaking of his friendship with French international Kylian Mbappé, Achraf says that his PSG teammate is the best encounter he has had thanks to football. "I would say Kylian again, football gave me the opportunity to meet him. He’s more than a friend, a teammate, he’s become someone in my family. Lucas Zidane too, we played a lot together when we were younger. And even if today he’s not at the top level, he’s still close to me, he’s a friend."

The Moroccan right-back does not fail to express his gratitude to his family and the two coaches who were instrumental in his football career. "Yes, first my family. These are people who are always by my side, who I need when I’m not going through a good time (on the pitch). And also, I would like to thank my coach, Hervé Renard who gave me the opportunity to play with the Moroccan national team and also Zinedine Zidane, at Real Madrid who gave me the opportunity to play pro. The two had confidence in me. And it’s nice and now it’s a bit thanks to them that I’m here."
