Achraf Hakimi Named to Ligue 1 Team of the Season Amid PSG Exit Rumors
Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi was named to the Ligue 1 2022-2023 team of the season at the UNFP Trophy ceremony held in Paris on Sunday, May 28, 2023.
In the team of the season, Hakimi was selected with three of his PSG teammates: Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Nuno Mendes. They were joined by Brice Samba and Kevin Danso from Lens, Chancel Mbemba from OM, Seko Fofana from Lens, Valentin Rongier from OM, Khephren Thuram from Nice and Loïs Openda from Lens.
The 2022/2023 UNFP Trophies also saw Kylian Mbappé, PSG’s star striker, named "Ligue 1 Player of the Season". In addition, Franck Haise of RC Lens was honored as "Coach of the Season".
Despite his inclusion in the team of the season, PSG would consider parting ways with the Moroccan during the next summer transfer window. The 24-year-old player, bought from Inter Milan for 68 million euros in the summer of 2021, has not fully convinced the Parisian club despite a promising start. Hakimi could be on the club’s transfer list during the summer transfer window, and the desire is not lacking on his part.
