2030 World Cup: is Morocco on the way to an economic boom?

The Moroccan economy would rebound by about $1.2 billion after the joint organization of the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal, predicts a report from the company specialized in financial analysis and brokerage on the Moroccan stock exchange. In the event that the kingdom’s stadiums host a third of the total number of 2030 World Cup matches, i.e. 104 matches, at a rate ranging from 25 to 104 matches, i.e. $37.5 million per match, Morocco would add between $850 million and $1.2 billion to its economy, the same report specifies.

The 2030 World Cup will take place for the first time on three continents: Africa, Europe and South America. One hundred and four matches will take place between Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Three of them will take place in Argentina (Buenos Aires), Uruguay (Montevideo) and Paraguay (Asunción). Morocco dreams of hosting the final of the tournament. It could take place in Agadir, Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat, Fez or Tangier. "We hope to experience an extraordinary final that honors the entire continent and the young generations in a stadium in Casablanca that will be extraordinary and wonderful," Faouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), had declared in October on Radio Mars.

The kingdom is already active in the construction of the future large stadium in Casablanca in the province of Benslimane, in the commune of Mansouria, 38 km north of Casablanca, which will have a capacity of 115,000 seated spectators. Unlike Portugal, which does not have a stadium that can accommodate up to 80,000 spectators and does not intend to invest to increase the capacity of the stadiums, Spain expects to host the World Cup final.
