Morocco Expands Agadir Airport Ahead of 2030 World Cup Co-Hosting

Morocco is investing in a new terminal and the renovation of the existing terminal at Agadir’s Al Massira airport. The infrastructure will be built before 2030, the year Morocco will co-host the World Cup with Spain and Portugal.
A new terminal will be built on an area twice the size of the current one at Agadir’s Al Massira airport. This project requires an estimated budget of 800 million dirhams. Another project will also be implemented: the renovation of the existing terminal. About 80 million dirhams have been mobilized for the development of Agadir’s Al Massira airport. It is planned to extend the national and international boarding areas, improve the check-in area, and consolidate the various networks, as well as build a handling services building. The work will take about 12 months.
These projects will allow the Al Massira airport in Agadir to be ready to welcome tourists and football fans from around the world to follow the matches of their national teams participating in the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal. The kingdom also hopes to see the final played at the large African stadium with a capacity of 115,000 that it plans to build in Benslimane, Casablanca.
