Ziyech Stays at Galatasaray, Demands More Playing Time

While he was determined to leave Galatasaray during this summer transfer window, Hakim Ziyech has finally chosen to spend this season in the Turkish club... but on one condition.

Unwanted at Galatasaray due to his unconvincing performances, Ziyech had resolved to leave. The 31-year-old striker recently deleted all his photos with the Turkish club from his Instagram account, showing his firm determination to leave. But according to the latest news, the Moroccan international would have finally chosen to spend this season at Galatasaray, but on one condition: to have enough playing time.

The newspaper "Hürriyet" confirmed the information, specifying that Ziyech has threatened that he will leave the Turkish club in January next, if this condition is not met, to join one of the Saudi clubs that wanted to secure his services during the summer transfer window. But coach Okan Buruk has revised his position towards the Atlas Lion, after the departure of wingers Kerem Aktürkoğlu to Benfica for 12 million euros and Wilfried Zaha, loaned to Lyon in France for 3 million euros.

Sabri Sarıoğlu, the coach of the Turkish national under-19 team, spoke about Ziyech’s case and his possible departure from Galatasaray. "Ziyech needs more confidence. I have played with many players with Ziyech’s personality at Galatasaray, he is very talented, but if he does not feel appreciated, his self-confidence will be shaken," said the former Galatasaray defender.

And he added: "His departure would be a big mistake, because Ziyech could regain his self-confidence and help the team in the future... In the match against Young Boys, Ziyech was substituted at half-time, because Okan Buruk thought he was not in good physical shape. But I think the whole team was not performing well that day".
