Ziyech Shines as Chelsea Advances to Champions League Quarter-Finals

After two matches without great form, Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech shone on Wednesday evening in the Champions League, helping Chelsea qualify for the quarter-finals against Atlético de Madrid (2-0). Even Thomas Tuchel, who had been skeptical about the player’s potential until then, recognized the mark of a great player.
Thomas Tuchel believes that Hakim Ziyech deserved his goal. A performance that will be remembered given the difficulties encountered by the player since the departure of Frank Lampard. Even if Emerson Palmieri definitively dashed any hope of the opposing team by scoring the second goal, it was Hakim Ziyech who opened the scoring in the 34th minute. Tuchel was extremely satisfied with his performance. This is the first goal the Moroccan player has scored at home since his transfer last summer.
Since he took over the management of Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel has put the Moroccan player on the bench more often than on the pitch, citing reasons that many sports experts do not understand. But recently, the coach seems to have revised his position, giving the player a chance to show what he is capable of on the pitch. "He played for this reason, he did it with Ajax, so we chose him for that, he has good experience in the round of 16, he knows what it’s like to reach the round of 16 and make it to the last eight," said the Chelsea boss.
However, the coach points out that Ziyech has not yet become familiar with Chelsea’s style of play. "He suffers a bit from our style, he needs to adapt to the structure and be more reliable with the ball and he needs to find a better rhythm to take risks and not take risks, but I’m super happy, he’s reliable," he wrote. But he acknowledges that he is working to overcome his limits. "He’s a guy who works hard from the start and I’m happy he was able to complete the transition with Kai and Timo, the three were all involved and it was a nice and decisive goal," he added.
