Ziyech Among Potential Returnees to Morocco Squad for CAN Qualifiers

Hakim Ziyech could be part of the list of players called up by the Moroccan national team coach, Walid Regragui, for the upcoming matches against Gabon and Lesotho, counting for the fifth and sixth rounds of the qualifiers for the CAN Morocco 2025.

Regragui has contacted Ziyech, who has recently resumed training with his club, Galatasaray, to inform him that "his name is on the extended list of the Atlas Lions for the next training camp, which currently has 37 players," according to a source close to the Moroccan team on the Kooora website.

Brahim Diaz, striker of Real Madrid, and Ghanem Saïss, defender of the Qatari club Al-Sadd, absent during the double confrontation against the Central African Republic on October 12 and 15, should also make their return. Walid Regragui could also call up players who played under Vahid Halilhodžić and who are performing remarkably in their clubs.

Ziyech and his teammates will face the Gabonese team on Friday, November 15 at the Franceville stadium (Gabon), as part of the fifth round of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) scheduled in Morocco. Regragui’s men will then cross swords with Lesotho on November 18 at home, during the sixth and final round of qualifications for the continental tournament final phase.

With 12 points, Morocco is at the top of Group B, ahead of Gabon, second with 7 points. The Central African Republic, for its part, occupies third place with three points, followed by Lesotho, last with one point.
