Monday 20 February 2023, by
Candidate for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, the Quebec singer of Moroccan origin, La Zarra, unveiled on Sunday, February 19, the song titled "Évidemment", with which she will defend France on May 13.
It was on the 8 p.m. news on France 2 that La Zarra unveiled the title "Évidemment" that she will sing at the Eurovision, as the representative of France. The Canadian-Moroccan is counting on the emotion and melancholy contained in the lyrics to stand out. "Évidemment, it’s the first word that came to me when I was offered to do the Eurovision," La Zarra presented this title on Friday to a few journalists and "Eurofans", reports Paris Normandie.
The artist carries the heavy responsibility of winning the Eurovision that France has not won since Marie Myriam’s victory in 1977. "Let’s go get this victory!" also launches Alexandra Redde-Amiel, head of the French delegation alongside the artist for this private listening. But can a title as melancholy as the one proposed by La Zarra hold up? "I always sing melancholy, but it’s not sad. I want to move forward despite the false promises," develops the singer.
She promises "a crazy outfit" on May 13 in Liverpool. "As you know, I’m Quebecois, my family is of Moroccan origin. When Eurovision came to me, I had this feeling, this need to talk about self-love, universal love. This song came quite easily, in three nights," she continues. The artist was chosen after a meeting-love affair with Alexandra Redde-Amiel, also director of entertainment and games at France Télévisions.
