A 70-year-old Moroccan man wanted to serve nearly three years in prison was found in an abandoned building in Turin. He was trying to hide among the roof debris before fleeing when police arrived.
The operation began when officers on patrol noticed suspicious activity in a disused building between via Bertini and via Agostino da Montefeltro. Several openings had been forcibly made in the fences surrounding the site, reports Torino Oggi.

The officers searched every floor in turn. When they reached the top floor, they heard a noise and then saw the silhouette of a man trying to hide among the roof debris.
The septuagenarian tried to flee when he saw the officers, but was caught shortly afterward. His identity check revealed that he was a homeless Moroccan national living illegally in Italy and wanted by the authorities.
Two years, nine months and twenty-nine days in prison
Several final convictions handed down in recent months required him to serve a cumulative prison sentence of two years, nine months and twenty-nine days. The Italian justice system is also seeking payment of a financial penalty, the amount of which was not specified.
The convictions relate to several drug-trafficking cases. The man mainly frequented the Porta Palazzo area and the Quadrilatero romano, two districts in central Turin.
