Wanted by Italy, a Moroccan arrested in Spain

A Moroccan wanted by the Italian authorities for drug trafficking was recently arrested in Benidorm, in eastern Spain.
The Moroccan fugitive, who is the subject of a European arrest warrant issued by the Italian authorities, was arrested by agents of the Benidorm police station while he was going to the identity document issuing offices (passport, DNI and TIE) to regularize his situation, reports La Razón.
It was by checking his identity in the database that the agents discovered that he was wanted by the Italian authorities for drug trafficking. The 25-year-old suspect of Moroccan origin had been sentenced in 2021 to a 20-year prison sentence for possession and sale of cocaine, heroin and hashish in Varese (Italy).
After his arrest, the Moroccan was made available to the competent court, which will be responsible for initiating the extradition procedures.
