World Tourism Leaders Gather in Marrakech for UNWTO Executive Council Meeting

Marrakech is hosting the 117th session of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). A meeting during which the global tourism elite will reaffirm the priority guidelines post-Covid-19 for the development of the resilience of the sector.
The organization is bringing together nearly 250 representatives of the Member States in the ochre city, including 16 ministers and senior officials in charge of tourism, representatives of public or private structures concerned, destination management organizations, as well as specialized investors.
During this meeting, a particular emphasis will be placed on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The program includes presentations on the theme "SMEs and talent, vector of the transformation of tourism," says a press release from the Ministry of Tourism.
For its part, Morocco is participating in this event through a delegation led by Ms. Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy. "This event presents an excellent opportunity to bring Morocco’s destination back to the forefront of the tourism sector’s opinion leaders and international media," the minister stressed.
This delegation is made up of professionals representing the sectoral federations, in particular the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT), the National Federation of the Hotel Industry (FNIH), the National Federation of Travel Agencies of Morocco (FNAVM), in addition to the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and the Moroccan Tourist Engineering Company (SMIT).
