Morocco Aims to Double Tourist Arrivals by 2030 in Post-Pandemic Tourism Push

In a context of relaunch of the tourism sector, strongly affected by the Covid-19 crisis, Morocco has revised its ambitions upwards. The kingdom aims to double the number of arrivals by 2030.
Speaking during a working session held with representatives of tourism industry players, including the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT) and the CEOs of ONMT and SMIT, Tourism Minister Fatima-Zahra Ammor unveiled her post-pandemic tourism vision, reports Les Inspirations ECO.
Thanks to the relaunch initiated by the executive and the concerted actions of all the players, Morocco plans to double the number of arrivals by 2030, she said. The purpose of the session is therefore to raise awareness of the importance of developing leisure and entertainment offerings, in order to attract more tourists, especially domestic ones. These offerings will complement the promotional efforts deployed by ONMT and foster short-term growth in new markets.
Recalling the dark period experienced by Moroccan tourism, due to the pandemic, the newspaper announces that today, the prospects for tourism recovery are positive. They would be better with the expected lifting of the travel barrier of the PCR test less than 48 hours before boarding.
In this regard, the same source points out, the authorities must solve certain problems that could slow down the ambitions. These are air transport, which conditions the tourism value proposition and the attractiveness of the Moroccan destination, and the lack of qualified resources due to the loss of attractiveness of the sector in terms of human resources.
