World Cup Betting Surges: France-Morocco Semi-Final Draws €30 Million in Online Wagers

The National Gaming Authority (ANJ) revealed the total amount bet online during the World Cup semi-final match between Morocco and France, a match won very narrowly by the Blues (0-2).
In a press release, the National Gaming Authority (ANJ) revealed that the 2022 Qatar World Cup generated 615 million euros in bets compared to 366 million in 2018. A huge increase. In detail, 55 million euros were bet online for the France-Argentina final against 37.5 million for France-Croatia in 2018, the ANJ specified. As for the France-Morocco semi-final, it generated 30 million euros.
Comparing the figures, the industry regulator notes that 366 million had been bet in total for the competition in 2018 and 420 million for the Euro in 2021. The publication by the ANJ of a more complete assessment of the figures and behaviors of the bettors is expected in January.
