Woman Arrested in Morocco for New Year’s Day Killing of Husband with Pestle

A woman killed her husband on New Year’s Day in the commune of Cheratte. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the Moulay Abdellah provincial hospital in Mohammedia after being struck with a deadly pestle by his wife.
The events took place on January 1, 2020 when her husband, with whom she had a child, returned home drunk as usual. He began to beat her when she reproached him for his drunkenness. After managing to escape to take refuge in the kitchen, she armed herself with a pestle to defend herself. Meanwhile, the victim slipped while trying to catch up with his wife, and she took the opportunity to strike him with deadly pestle blows.
Disoriented, she tried to cover up her crime by making it look like an assault. Alerted, the gendarmerie elements went to the crime scene. They found the victim still alive but unconscious before rushing him to the hospital where he died.
Arrested, his wife finally confessed to her crime. According to the accused, her ex-husband had been arrested several times and presented to the prosecutor for public drunkenness.
