Wealthy Moroccan Retiree and Wife Tortured in Brutal Home Invasion Near Safi

According to the daily Al Akhbar, the Moroccan living abroad and his wife were victims of a burglary on the night of May 24. A gang of four individuals, including the caterer, broke into the couple’s villa, chained up all the family members, then tortured them, before electrocuting them until they lost consciousness.

After the departure of the four burglars, a child who had witnessed the scene was able to call for help from the neighbors, who finally alerted the royal gendarmerie. The investigation, conducted under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, led to the arrest of the three criminals last Saturday, before seizing all the stolen valuables, including jewelry, precious stones and money.

The Moroccan living abroad and his wife, who were rushed to a private clinic in Casablanca, are still in intensive care in the resuscitation department, adds the daily. Their vital prognosis is now engaged, according to the medical report, due to the torture and acts of electrocution suffered.

Held in custody, the three defendants were brought before the public prosecutor’s office yesterday, Tuesday, pending the arrest of the fourth accused, who is the subject of a nationwide search warrant.
