Vitamin C Shortage Hits Moroccan Pharmacies Amid COVID-19 Treatment Demand

Associated with zinc in the therapeutic protocol developed by the Ministry of Health to treat the coronavirus, vitamin C is experiencing an unprecedented shortage in Moroccan pharmacies. The causes of this stock shortage are numerous.
This shortage is justified by a temporary stock shortage, reports EFE. According to the Trade Union Confederation of Pharmacies, the causes of this shortage are still unknown. It adds that it has unsuccessfully appealed to the ministry about this shortage.
In the ranks of the population who use this antioxidant to treat the common cold, complaints are multiplying. For Dr. Tayeb Hamdi, this shortage can be justified by the rebound in sales to people who excel in self-medication, to those who use it to prevent the coronavirus or to those who stock it as a precaution.
Since the start of the coronavirus epidemic, the Kingdom has recorded 197,481 infections, 163,195 recoveries and 3,301 deaths.
