Visa Appointment Scalpers Charge Thousands as Spain Faces Application Surge

The large influx of visa applicants, observed in the last two months at the consular services of France and Spain in Tangier, has been such that the chances of getting an appointment to submit documents have become very slim.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, some individuals offer their intermediation service, thus offering interested persons the possibility of filing their application within a shorter time, for a fee ranging from 4,000 DH to 7,000 DH.
In 2018, several amendments have made it possible to simplify the Schengen visa application procedures for Moroccan citizens, including shorter response times, and also the strengthening of security systems.
As a result, the number of visas granted by the Spanish consular services in Morocco in 2018 recorded a clear evolution compared to the last ten years.
Note that last year, the various Spanish consulates in Morocco granted a total of 220,929 visas, a sharp increase compared to previous years when the Iberian neighbor only granted 140,000 to 180,000 per year.
